  • Here goes!

We head out from our place to go to Grizzards, then load our bags into the van... heading to Charlotte Airport. Our first layover is in Ohio, then on to LA: final destination, Samoa!
Hopefully I'll be able to find some internet access so that I can update y'all on our lives and happenings there..
    I'll miss you all!

  • Which one?

I mean, which diet is the best, and has the best results? It's not the best time, I suppose, to be thinking about dieting since it is close to Thanksgiving, and then Christmas and New Years is just around the corner.. and going on vacation, yeah.. this just is really probably not a good idea! But seriously, I'd love to know.. mostly because I'd love to drop about 30 lbs before April... or is that an unrealistic date? Or not long enough?

Now, I've heard about the Hallelujah Diet, South Beach Diet, Weight Watchers Diet, The Zone Diet, Tuna Fish Diet, The Grapefruit Diet, The Lean Cuisine Diet, or the Just-Stop-Eating Diet. Which one is the best one? I understand that everyone's body reacts differently to things we eat, but I'd love some feedback if a certain one worked better for you...

I know that a lot of ppl would say to go completely organic; milk, cheese, veggies, fruits, grains. This is the recession, ppl. Have you checked the prices on Organic stuff lately? 2 lbs of Organic strawberries are $6.50. My ship hasn't come in yet, so I can't afford to go completely Organic. Besides, from what I observe, ppl who buy and eat all Organic stuff usually end up just as sick or more than the ones who eat regular food. So who's to say what is right?

And are there really foods that cause your body to eat its own body fat? Or foods that literally burn the fat off while you sleep? Does Apple Cider Vinegar burn your body fat if you take it 3 times a day? (that stuff is nasty to take!) Can you loose weight by eating just salads, but gain it all back from the salad dressing you put on your greens? Or take off pounds by eating nothing but steak? (ugh.. heavy stuff)

Makes me wonder... I mean, with all these diets readily available to everyone, except for the small fact that now you kinda have to pay for some of them, our country is pretty obsessed with being thin. Or should I say skinny? Some say that if a girl is 5'6, she should be 120 lbs. I'm that height, and if I weighed that much, I'd look sick. I mean, my bone mass is HUGE. Do any of these diets calculate that in?

And what exercise is the best for loosing weight? Like for instance, if I wanted to work on my stomach muscles and loose weight at the same time, would sit ups be a bad thing? Because I don't want to turn my fat into muscle.. that would be gross! I don't wanna look light a heavy weight! I think women who are all cut and stuff are just... yeah. Nasty.

    So anyhow, any advice, ppl?

  • Maybe it's just me,

... but when it's really cold outside, like now, I don't revert to drinking coffee, like some would think I would; I go for the hot chocolate. For real! I mean, for some reason, hot chocolate, hot cider, even hot spice tea or chai is, how shall I say, "more comforting", than coffee.
Now, I'll take coffee all day, any day. And tho I don't count myself as an addict, simply for the reason that I can go for days without it and not get a headache or anything, I really want a nice, aromatic hot apple cider or chai filled mug with a pillowy mound of whipped cream on top to wrap my cold hands around while I'm sitting underneath a fleece blanket with a fascinating book in hand. Its not that coffee affects me where after I drink it I feel like I have to get up and work, or that it gives me the jitters, but I subconsciously feel that I'm drinking coffee to either socialize or wake me up enough to work. But right now, I'm typing away at the computer and I have, sitting on the desk beside me, a nice hot cup of coffee laced with a little bit of sugar and creamer... steam spiraling up into the air, and I like it. I'm not feelin hot chocolate right now. I'm doing something that I need to get done, and coffee is there on the job. If I had anything else, I'd feel lazy and slow, and this post would be about 8 sentences long, and.. probably less boring than this is, simply because I'm rambling on and on about something that I bet no one has the slightest clue what its about.
    Well, do you?

  • Never seen that before...

    ... have you?
Any of you seen the cartoon, "The Coyote and the Roadrunner"? Remember where, whenever the Roadrunner would start to run, their legs would spin in a circle, kinda like a fan, and they'd spin away in the same place until they "PHEW!".. would take off?
Well, I saw a deer do just that today. I was driving home from some meetings, and coming down the road I saw a nice whitetail buck in the middle of the road, crossing to the other side. *sigh*. you know how deer are, they get blinded by the lights of your car? He was no exception, and he just stood there, blinking stupidly for a few seconds; til I beeped my horn, and then he pulled a "Roadrunner" and spun his hoofs so fast he never moved from where he was standing for a few seconds! It was the funniest thing.. watching him spin his hoofs in an attempt to run fast. It was almost like he was standing on ice!
And that's the funny thing.. he WASN'T on ice. Have you ever seen a deer spin his hoofs on pure asphalt? Road conditions being dry, with no moisture or heat or ice anywhere? Baffled me, for sure....
Well, what can we say... stranger things have happened...

  • I'm getting that cozy feeling coming on...

... and that usually means that cold weather has gotten to me and I'm wanting to put up lights, candles everywhere, red ribbons and greenery, hot chocolate and cider and apples and spray on snow...
I just love the winter season, and that's starting to get to me now that the mornings are COLD, and often sparkling with icy dew upon first morning light. I think it's gonna hit me harder when we get back from Samoa, where it's fairly "warm" (70s-80 degrees)
Getting ready for this trip has seemed so surreal to me almost.. I mean, my life is sick with hurried busyness every day till the day that we leave, and it just seems unreal that I'm really going back again; something that I thought wouldn't happen for at least another year. I'm so happy about going, don't get me wrong: but the circumstances are different. My mom won't be there, and neither will my sister, or my many aunts or uncles.. I think I'll really get a true picture of what Samoan life is really like, because there won't be any like, celebrations or whole bunch of out of town ppl.. it'll be more quiet, and I'll see what ppl were referring to when they kept telling me that this is very unusual for a small town.. kinda like what I remember Grangeville Idaho (the town where I grew up) was like when the 4th of July would roll around.
I'm rambling, I know... but that's kinda what my thoughts look like these days..
Well, time to get ready for work... *sigh* kinda wish that I didn't have to but since we're leaving poor dear Ruth Det has to keep things running all by herself... Cheers to you, Ruth. You're the best. :)
